You might’ve heard of Michael Sayman, a 17-year-old who made quite a splash at Facebook’s annual conference f8. He’s the genius behind the word game called 4 Snaps, where players take pictures that combine to form a word for others to guess.

This app created such a buzz that Facebook couldn’t ignore it. They even hired Michael as an intern! Can you believe it? He got the chance to meet none other than Mark Zuckerberg himself!

When I was 12, I learned how to code. It was an exciting journey that opened up a world of possibilities. But it wasn’t until I saw my sister texting a friend pictures to guess a word that I got the inspiration for 4 Snaps.

With this app, you can turn that guessing game into a real-life experience. It’s a fun and interactive way to challenge your friends and test your knowledge.

Creating this app was no easy task, but I was determined to bring my idea to life. I spent countless hours coding and testing, making sure everything was just right.

And when the app was finally complete, it couldn’t have come at a better time. It was during the 2012 recession, and my family was going through tough times. The earnings from the app helped us get through those difficult moments.

I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished with 4 Snaps. It’s not just a game, but a testament to the power of following your passion and turning an idea into reality.

2. Brittany Wenger

Brittany Wenger could revolutionize medical history with her breast cancer diagnosis app. When her cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer, Brittany took it upon herself to create her own diagnostic program.

She called it the Global Neural Network Cloud Service for Breast Cancer. This powerful program has the ability to detect 99 percent of life-threatening tumors. It was so impressive that she won the Google Science Fair in 2012.

So here’s the deal, guys. The app I’m talking about isn’t out just yet. But don’t you worry, it will be soon enough! You see, my amazing friend Brittany is working her magic to set up an incredible online app for doctors to share their data. And guess what? We’re not stopping there! We’re going to test it out at not just one, but two research centers. How cool is that? Oh, and did I mention that Brittany is only 19 years old and she’s studying at Duke University? Yeah, she’s kind of a genius.

3. Ethan Duggan

When my mom was trying on clothes, I thought she looked great and kept telling her so. That’s when I got the idea for my first app.

I called it LazyHusband (which is no longer available), and it was designed to help husbands out when their wives asked them difficult questions.

Last year, my dad and I went to the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas to introduce my app. It was called LazyHusband, and it became really popular. After that, I decided to make more apps, like LazyWife and LazyKid.

But I didn’t stop there! I also created two other apps called Bargument and PL8SEE. It was pretty incredible to accomplish all of this at such a young age. I’m proud to be a part of the Vegas Tech community.

4. Ryan Orbuch and Michael Hansen

When it comes to tackling tasks, two heads are definitely better than one. Just ask Ryan Orbuch and Michael Hansen. Their partnership led to the creation of an incredible task management app that took off like wildfire.

It all started one day when Ryan was supposed to be hitting the books for a big test. But instead of studying, he got caught up in a burst of inspiration and started doodling a to-do-list app. As fate would have it, he shared his idea with his buddy, Michael, and from there, the dynamic duo went to work on what would eventually become known as Finish.

When we first started, we divided our tasks – I handled the coding, while Ryan focused on the user interface, design, and marketing. Can you believe we were only 15 years old then?

In January 2013, we finally launched the app. It was amazing to see that it got 16,500 downloads in just one month! We were both 17 at that time. We even had the opportunity to speak at this year’s SXSW conference. We decided to relaunch a free version of Finish with some additional paid features.

5. Nick D’Aloisio

Ever get frustrated trying to study for a history test? Imagine how much worse it is when you have to scour the internet for information. Well, that’s exactly what 16-year-old Nick D’Aloisio went through. But instead of giving up, he had an idea. He thought, “Why not create an app that summarizes news articles, so it’s easier to read on smartphones?”

So he got to work and made a prototype app called Summly. And guess what? It was a hit! He even got funding from some big names like Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka Shing, Ashton Kutcher, Yoko Ono, and Rupert Murdoch.

Imagine this: a teenager creates an app that becomes wildly popular, attracting the attention of a big company like Yahoo. Well, that’s exactly what happened to Nick D’Aloisio. When he was just 17, Nick developed an app called Summly, which quickly gained popularity and was downloaded by nearly a million people in just four months. Impressive, right?

Then, in a surprising turn of events, Yahoo took notice of Summly and its young creator. They were so impressed that they decided to acquire the app for a whopping $30 million dollars! Not only that, but Nick himself became a Yahoo employee at the young age of 18.

6. Julian Wyzykowski

I’m Julian Wyzykowski, and I’m just like any other teenager who loves digital games. But here’s the thing, I took my passion to a whole new level and turned it into a business.

So far, I’ve created eight awesome mobile apps and games, and guess what? I even have my very own company called Combustible Games.

I’ve been working hard on my latest app called W8. It’s a great app for people who love reading while they’re on the move. So far, the app has received a review on The iPhone App Review, and I’ve also made some updates to it in April. But I’m not stopping there! I’m constantly thinking of new ideas and developing more games to add to the app.

7. Maximillian Polhill

So, there’s this game app called Stellar Alien, right? It’s all about space and aliens and spaceships – pretty cool stuff! What’s really mind-blowing, though, is that a 15-year-old named Maximillian Polhill came up with it. Can you believe it? This genius was actually creating a simulation for a planet’s gravitational pull using this open-source physics engine called Box2D. I mean, who would’ve thought that physics and video games could go hand in hand like that? It’s wild!

I made this awesome game in HTML5. It’s pretty cool because I can put it on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Marketplace. The only problem is that Android doesn’t support HTML5, but I found a way around it by using Ludei to convert the code so it works on mobile. Now you can also play it on your iPhone and iPad!

8. Arjun Kumar

When I was just 14 years old, I decided to participate in the MIT App Inventor Contest back in 2012. It was a bold move, but I believed in my abilities and wanted to see what I could do. Little did I know that it would be a life-changing experience for me.

I come from India, a place filled with vibrant cultures and rich history. Being an Indian, I felt a sense of pride representing my country in an international contest. The competition was tough, but that didn’t deter me from giving it my all. I poured my heart and soul into creating an app that would make a difference.

The app that brought me victory in the contest was called “The Ez School Bus Locator.” It was a simple yet ingenious concept that aimed to solve a problem faced by many students and parents – finding the school bus. With this app, I wanted to make the daily commute easier and safer for children.

Winning first place in the grade school category was an incredible honor for me. It showed me that hard work and determination pay off, no matter your age or background. It inspired me to continue pursuing my passion for technology and innovation.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the opportunity the MIT App Inventor Contest gave me. It opened doors for me and allowed me to showcase my talent on a global stage. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me, as I continue to explore the limitless possibilities of app development.

Just like others in this list, I too created video games. But, one day in school, something changed everything. My friends were disappointed with the inaccurate weather forecasts and the existing weather apps that often misled them, especially during the snowy season. That’s when they had a brilliant idea – they suggested that I create a better weather app. And so, I did. I developed the Whiteout Watch app.

Hey there! Let me tell you about this awesome app called Whiteout Watch. You won’t believe what it does! This app can actually predict if you’ll have a snow day. How cool is that?

Whiteout Watch works by collecting a bunch of information, like where you are and what the weather is like right now. It then compares all that data to make its prediction. Of course, predicting the weather is always a bit tricky, so the results might not be 100% accurate. But trust me, Whiteout Watch does a way better job than its competitor, Snow Day Calculator.
