Let’s Get Down to Business: Tips & Tricks for Tumblr
Hey there! I have some good advice for you when using Tumblr. You know how Tumblr automatically turns long posts into links when you reblog them? Well, some of your followers might want to read the whole thing right there on their dashboard without being sent to another page.
But don’t worry, there’s an easy fix for this! Instead of reblogging the post as a link, simply choose the Text option. When you click that little drop-down menu, you’ll see the option to change the format of the post. Just select Reblog As Text and you’ll be able to share the entire post in all its glory.

How to Let Your Followers Reply to Your Posts from the Dashboard
Have you ever wondered how to get your followers to respond to your posts? It’s easy! Just follow these steps:
Step 1: Write your post as usual, but make sure to end it with a question mark (?). This will signal to your followers that you want their feedback.
Step 2: Look for the “Let People Answer This” option at the bottom of your post. It will appear automatically once you’ve added the question mark.
Step 3: Check the box next to “Let People Answer This” to enable the reply feature. Once you’ve done that, your followers will have the ability to reply directly to your post.
That’s it! Now you can sit back and wait for your followers to chime in with their thoughts and opinions. It’s a great way to start a conversation and engage with your audience.

Sending Asks to Other Users Just Got Easier!
Hey there! I have some exciting news for all you Tumblr users. Now, asking a question to your favorite bloggers is as simple as a click! No need to visit their blog anymore. Let me show you how.
First off, head over to your dashboard. See that little icon of the person you want to ask a question to? Hover your mouse cursor over it. Now, check out the options that pop up. There are three of them: Ask a question, Send fan mail, or Ignore. Pretty cool, right?
For now, let’s focus on asking a question. So go ahead and click on the figure. Boom! A text box appears right in front of you. That’s where the magic happens. Type in your question and hit send.
Bring Back Old Themes
If you ever want to return to an old theme you used before, it’s super simple. Just follow this link and click on Revert. Your blog will go back to its original theme. Keep in mind, though, that you might need to make some adjustments to get everything perfect again.
Editing Multiple Posts and Tags
With the handy feature of Mass Edit Posts, Tumblr has made it a breeze for users to quickly add a specific tag to all their posts.
If you’re on your dashboard, just direct your attention to the right side of the page and click on Posts. Under Customize, you’ll find a handy link called Mass Post Editor. Give that link a click, and you’ll be able to effortlessly edit or add tags and even delete posts all at once.
Plan Ahead with Scheduled Posts
With Tumblr, you can effortlessly plan and schedule your posts to be published at specific times. It’s a convenient way to keep your blog active and consistent. Simply go to the Settings section and adjust the number of posts you want to publish from your Queue, as well as the timing settings.
When you’re ready to add a post to your schedule, just click on the arrow next to Reblog Post. A drop-down menu will appear, offering you the option to Add to Queue. This will save the post to your Queue list, ensuring it gets published later on.
How to Hold Off on Answering Your Followers’ Questions
Hey there! So, picture this: your Askbox is buzzing with questions from your awesome followers. You’re excited to reply to each one, but you don’t want your blog to be filled with a whole bunch of gray reply boxes, right?
Don’t worry, I’ve got a solution for you! You can actually delay your replies so they don’t all appear at once. Here’s how: when you’re answering a question, just hold down the Alt key. This will bring up some options for you to choose from: either Queue or Save As Draft. If you choose Queue, your reply will be published at a later time. Pretty neat, huh?
Get Creative with Tumblr’s Logo
Have you ever wanted to use Tumblr’s logo on your images, collages, or as your icon? It can be frustrating trying to find the right size and color by searching on Google. But don’t worry, Tumblr is here to help!
You can easily access Tumblr’s logo by clicking here. There, you’ll find a variety of designs to choose from. Once you’ve found the perfect logo, you can download it and use it on your own images, as part of your Tumblr theme, or even as your Tumblr icon. The possibilities are endless!
Discover the Old-School Way to Search
Tumblr has recently updated its search feature, allowing you to search for multiple tags at the same time. While this is definitely an improvement, some people prefer the old layout for displaying search results. If you’re one of them, don’t worry, I’ve got a little trick for you.
To view the search results in the old layout, simply replace “/search” in the URL with “/tagged”. This will give you the familiar layout you’re used to. Happy searching!
Give Your Followers a Sneak Peek of Your Work in Progress
Usually, when I’m still working on something, I keep it as a draft. But sometimes, I want to let my followers know that I’m making progress. So first, I save my post as a draft. Then, when I want to share it, I go to my drafts and click on the upper right corner of the post.
This opens up a tab with my blog post in my blog template. To share it with others, I just copy the URL. It’s important to note that the URL is temporary, and once I publish the draft, the URL will disappear. However, it’s a great way to preview my drafts and give my followers a little taste of what’s to come.
Rearranging Queued Posts
So, you’ve got your posts all lined up and ready to go, but now you want to change the order they’ll be published in. No worries, I’ve got you covered! Just head on over to your queue page. Now, take a look at the Sort button – it’s the one in the middle, down there in the bottom right corner – and give it a little hover. Nice! Now you can grab hold of a post and move it around to rearrange things however you like.
Oh, and if you want a particular post to be published first, just look for the Move to top button over in the far right corner and give it a little click. Easy peasy!
Discover Your Friends’ Interests
I’ve noticed that some blogs have a nifty feature called “Things I Liked.” It’s a cool way to showcase posts that users have enjoyed. Unfortunately, not all blogs have this feature enabled. But fear not! If you’re curious to find out what posts your friends have liked on their blog, I’ve got a trick for you. Just enter this URL into your browser: https://www.tumblr.com/liked/by/[username]. But keep in mind, this only works for public Tumblrs. Have fun exploring!
Find Posts on Blogs Without a Search Bar
Have you ever found a post that you really liked, but when you went to the person’s Tumblr page, you couldn’t find a search bar? Frustrating, right? Well, don’t worry, because I’ve got a trick for you.
Even if there’s no search bar, you can still search for similar posts by using a special URL. Just follow these steps:
- First, copy the user’s username. You can usually find it in the URL of their Tumblr page.
- Next, think of a keyword or phrase that describes the type of post you’re looking for.
- Now, open up a new tab in your web browser and type in “http://[username].tumblr.com/search/[search term]”.
- Replace “[username]” with the actual username you copied earlier, and “[search term]” with your keyword or phrase.
- Hit enter, and voila! You’ll be taken to a page that shows all the posts on that user’s Tumblr that match your search term.
So now, even if there’s no search bar on a Tumblr blog, you can still find what you’re looking for. Pretty cool, huh? Happy searching!
Check Out Posts Tagged From the Beginning to Now
Blog posts usually show the newest one first, and then the ones posted later. Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to show your oldest post initially. However, there is a way to view your tagged posts in the order they were published.
Here’s how you do it: just add “/chrono” at the end of a tag URL. For example, if your tag URL looks like this: http://[username].tumblr.com/tagged/[tag name], modify it to look like this: http://[username].tumblr.com/tagged/[tag name]/chrono.
Looking for Posts on a Specific Date
Do you ever want to find a particular post that you know was published on a specific date? It can be really frustrating to search through a whole blog or tag just to find that one post.
Guess what? There’s a much simpler way to find out which posts were published on a specific date. All you have to do is follow these steps:
- Type “http://[username].tumblr.com/day/[year]/[month]/[day]” into your search bar.
- Replace [username], [year], [month], and [day] with the relevant information.
That’s it! Now you can easily find the posts you’re looking for without any hassle. Happy searching!
Check out the Archives
If you want to dive into a blog and explore its contents quickly, one of the fastest ways is to check out its archives. However, not all blogs conveniently provide an archive link. But worry not, my friend! I have a solution for you.
Just follow this URL: http://[username].tumblr.com/archive, and you’ll be able to access the archives of those blogs that don’t have a specific archive link.
But let’s say you’re not interested in browsing through all the archives and just want to explore a particular month and year. Well, here’s another URL for you to try: http://[username].tumblr.com/archive/[year]/[month].
Discover Your Tags
You might think that Tumblr doesn’t provide a convenient way to see all the tags you’ve used, but actually, they do. So how can you find this hidden treasure trove? It’s simple! Just follow these steps to uncover all your tags.
First, let’s access the source code of your Tumblr dashboard. Right-click anywhere on your dashboard and choose “View page source” from the menu that pops up. Don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it sounds!
Once you have the source code in front of you, use a shortcut to find the magic words: “Tumblr.USER_TAGS”. On a Mac, press Command + F, and on Windows, press Ctrl + F. This will bring up a search bar where you can enter the desired term.
You know, if you run a blog with a bunch of different writers, you might want to show each author’s picture next to their post. It’s a cool feature that adds a personal touch to your blog. Lucky for you, Tumblr makes it easy to do! Just follow these steps:
1. Go to the top of your dashboard and look for the gear icon. It’s right next to the log out button.
2. Click on the gear icon and scroll down to find “Blog avatar”.
3. Once you’ve found it, turn on the “Show author portraits” option.
That’s it! Now your blog will show each author’s picture next to their posts. Pretty neat, huh?
Oh, and if you want to add even more pizzazz to your blog, you can also add a music player. It’s a great way to make your blog more lively and interesting. Here’s how:
1. Look for SCM Music Player. They have a bunch of different music players you can choose from.
2. Once you’ve found a player you like, click on it and go to the “Edit Playlist” section.
3. From there, you can add songs in three different formats: MP3 links, SoundCloud tracks, and YouTube addresses.
So go ahead and customize your blog with these fun features! Your readers will love it.
Time to Jazz Up Your Dashboard!
Feeling tired of your plain old blue dashboard theme? Well, I’ve got just the thing for you! All you need to do is download the awesome Stylish extension for either Chrome or Firefox. Once you’ve got that installed, head on over to UserStyles and prepare to be amazed by the incredible selection of themes that await you!

Disqus is a widely popular commenting feature that enables people who aren’t on Tumblr to actively participate in discussions about your posts. By integrating Disqus, you can expand the reach of your audience and create engaging conversations around your creative content.
