Learn How to Put Video Ads on YouTube with TrueView for Shopping
Today, I want to talk to you about an exciting feature called TrueView for Shopping, which allows you to display video ads on YouTube. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, buckle up and let me guide you through the process!
First things first, let’s talk about what TrueView for Shopping actually is. It’s an awesome tool that lets me, as a advertiser, show relevant product information alongside my video ads on YouTube. This means that when you’re watching a video, you might notice a little card popping up with details about a product you might be interested in. Neat, huh?
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how to use TrueView for Shopping. To start off, you’ll need to have a Google Merchant Center account, where you can upload your product data. Think of it as a virtual catalogue for all the awesome stuff you’re selling. Once you’ve got that taken care of, you’ll also need to link your AdWords account to your Merchant Center account. This way, when you create your video ads, you can easily include your product data.
Now, let’s talk about the cool part – creating your video ad! When making your ad, you’ll have the option to include cards featuring your awesome products. These cards will appear at the side of the video, tempting the viewer with all the details they need to know about your product. It’s like having a mini-store right within your video!
And here’s the best part – you only pay for these ads when viewers actually click on your cards or watch your video for at least 30 seconds. That means you’re getting the most out of your advertising budget, reaching people who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer.
But wait, there’s more! TrueView for Shopping also gives you insights into how well your ads are performing. You can see data about the products being shown, how many clicks you’re getting, and even how much revenue you’re generating from your ads. This way, you can make informed decisions about your advertising strategy and keep improving your campaigns.
So, if you’re ready to take your advertising game to the next level, TrueView for Shopping is definitely worth giving a try. With its ability to showcase your products alongside your video ads on YouTube, you’ll be reaching potential customers in a whole new way. So go ahead, give it a shot, and watch your business soar to new heights!
Let me tell you about this awesome feature called TrueView, which is a part of Google AdWords. It’s all about making video advertising easy and effective.

Get Started with TrueView Video Ads on YouTube
Okay, now I’m going to walk you through the five steps to create your own TrueView video ads and the accounts you need to start advertising.
Step 1: Set up a Google AdWords Account
If your business is already advertising on Google through your AdWords account, then you’re already one step ahead. But if not, don’t worry! Your first step is to create an account with AdWords.
Step 2: Log in to Your AdWords Account
Create a Video Campaign
When you click on the Video button, it will bring you to a page where you can enter all the details for your video campaign. This is called the Create campaign page.
Step 3: Fill in the Video Campaign Details
Alright, let’s break it down. Here’s what you need to fill in:
Once you’ve got that sorted, just click on Save and continue to move on to creating your Ad Group.
Step 4: Create an Ad Group
I’m now at the part where I need to Create an ad group and ad. Here, I’ll provide the name for the ad group and the details for the video ad. We have two options for the video ad type, and two options for the video ad format.
For the video ad type, you can choose either one of these:
1. In-Stream – this means the ad will play before, during, or after the video that the viewer chose to watch.
2. In-Display – this means the ad will appear on the right side of YouTube pages, along with recommendations and search results.
Once you choose your preferred option, a new section will appear for you to fill in the details and create your ad.
Now, let’s move on to Step 5: Create Your Ad. In this section, you’ll provide all the necessary information to create your ad. You’ll also get a preview of your ad, so you can see the final version before proceeding.
If you want to show your video as a TrueView advertisement, it has to be on YouTube. So, you’ll have to make a YouTube channel.
Once you make your video and put it on your channel, you’ll get a video URL. That’s the URL you’ll add in the video details.
The best thing about TrueView videos is that you only have to pay when people interact with your ad.
In the Bidding section, you decide how much you’re willing to pay for these interactions. Interactions include:
- Watching your ad for 30 seconds
- Watching your entire ad if it’s shorter than 30 seconds
- Clicking on any of your Calls to Action (CTAs) or associated banners
Once you’ve finalized the bidding details, just click Save ad group.
If you haven’t already, you can also link your YouTube channel to your AdWords account on the final screen.
Click Finish and you’re all set!
Guess what? TrueView is hard at work, specifically targeting a special audience just for you! Your video is in the spotlight, ready to captivate the right viewers.
