By Ronald Smith

Do you know that you can transform your images into different formats right on your iPhone or iPad? It’s true! When you download images on your device, they may be in formats like JPG, PNG, or WEBP. And if you take screenshots, they usually come out as JPG or HEIF files.

If you ever find yourself needing to convert the format of your images, don’t worry! I’m here to help you. In this guide, I’ll show you different methods to convert images on your iPhone or iPad. We’ll cover:

  • Using the Files App that’s already on your device
  • Creating a shortcut to convert images in a snap
  • Installing other apps that can help you with image conversions
  • Using an online tool to change the format

Using the Files App to Convert Images

What You’ll Need:

  • An iPad or iPhone that is running iOS 16 or a newer version
  • The Files App, which should already be on your device

I love the Files app in iOS because it’s not just for exploring files. It can also convert images into different formats! Let me tell you how you can use the Files app to convert images on your iPhone:

1. First, open the Files app on your iPhone. It’s usually found on your home screen.

2. Once you’re in the Files app, navigate to the location where your image is stored. This could be in the “On My iPhone” section, iCloud Drive, or any other location where you have files saved.

3. When you find your image, tap on it to open it. You should now see a preview of the image.

4. Next, tap on the share button. It’s usually represented by a square with an arrow pointing up. This will open the share sheet.

5. In the share sheet, you’ll see various options for sharing the image. Look for the option that says “Convert to PDF” or “Create PDF.” It might be hidden under the “More” button, so make sure to swipe left to reveal more options.

6. Once you find the “Convert to PDF” or “Create PDF” option, tap on it. The Files app will now convert your image into a PDF file.

7. After the conversion is complete, you’ll be asked to choose a location to save the PDF file. You can select any folder or location in the Files app to save the converted PDF.

8. Finally, tap on the “Save” button to save the PDF file. The Files app will now store the converted PDF in the location you selected.

That’s it! You’ve successfully converted your image into a PDF using the Files app on your iPhone. Now you can easily share or view the converted PDF file whenever you want. The Files app truly makes managing files on your iPhone a breeze!
