Intuit Shakes Things Up at QuickBooks Connect

I just got back from attending the fourth annual QuickBooks Connect (QB Connect) conference in California’s Silicon Valley. Hosted by Intuit’s QuickBooks, this event was a fantastic blend of helpful information and motivating inspiration for small business owners and the accountants who support them.

The conference began with a powerful speech from Intuit CEO Brad Smith, who emphasized the vital role that small businesses play in job creation. He reminded us that a staggering 60 percent of all new jobs worldwide are generated by small businesses. Smith highlighted how globalization has both made the world smaller and larger simultaneously, presenting new opportunities and increased competition for small business owners.

According to Thomas Friedman, a writer for the New York Times and a popular author, we are currently living in a time of rapid and massive change. This change can be exciting and confusing at the same time. Smith reminded the audience that change has two sides: challenges and opportunities. As entrepreneurs, our task is to turn challenges into opportunities.

  1. What are your values? What do you and your company believe in? How do you treat others?
  2. What is your mission? What kind of impact do you want to make on society?
  3. How do you define success?

Smith acknowledges that this exercise may sound too California-y to some, but at Intuit, they regularly reflect on their core values. They focus on three B’s: be bold, be passionate, and be decisive. They also emphasize three We’s: we learn quickly, we achieve success together, and we deliver outstanding results.

Giving back is what it’s all about. I believe that when small business owners do well, we all do well. That’s why Intuit is introducing a bunch of new products and improvements to help small business owners (and their accountants) succeed.

The Exciting New Stuff at QuickBooks Connect 2017

Let me give you a glimpse of some of these awesome innovations.

Easy and Convenient Payment Options for Small Businesses

I’ve got some exciting news for small businesses like yours. We’ve made some great improvements to our setup process, making it super quick and easy for you to create a payments account. With just three clicks, you’ll be up and running in just one minute! Can you believe it? It used to take a whole 48 hours and 33 clicks, but we’ve made it lightning fast.

Now, here’s something even cooler. We’ve integrated with Gmail, so you can do all your invoicing straight from your inbox. Send invoices, check their status, and even get paid online, all without leaving Gmail. And here’s the best part: this feature is available to any business that uses Gmail. You don’t even have to be a QuickBooks customer to enjoy this awesome perk.

But wait, there’s more! If you’re a GoPayment user, we’ve got something special for you too. You can now use our brand new mobile card reader. It’s Bluetooth-enabled and accepts both magnetic strip and chip credit cards. Plus, it works seamlessly with both iOS and Android devices. How convenient is that?

Introducing QuickBooks Assistant

When you use the QuickBooks Assistant, you save time and have immediate access to your financial information. You can retrieve this data from anywhere, anytime. It’s really convenient!

Right now, the Assistant is available for iOS and Android devices. Coming next year, it will also be released for QuickBooks online.

Introducing QuickBooks Capital

We’ve talked about QuickBooks Capital before on USamerica.US. It’s a loan program that helps small businesses get the funding they need, even if they don’t qualify for traditional loans. Rania Succar, the head of QuickBooks Capital, told me that Intuit is exploring other ways to use the QuickBooks Capital credit model. This could greatly improve the lending experience for small businesses everywhere!

I, Alex Chriss, the Chief Product Officer of QuickBooks, want to emphasize the incredible potential of Smart Connections. This amazing feature allows over seven million QuickBooks users, 500,000 accountants, and 5,000 app developers to connect with one another seamlessly. And that’s not all – our Find-A-ProAdvisor program is already bringing together almost 1,000 business owners and accountants each day.

If you’re a QuickBooks customer, get ready for something new. We are working on a program that will connect freelancers and independent contractors with small businesses that need their expertise. This program will revolutionize the way people work together and create opportunities for growth.

All these extraordinary innovations are designed to help you succeed. As a business owner, it can feel overwhelming and isolating at times. But here at Intuit, we want to ensure that you never have to face these challenges alone. We believe in the power of a strong community. Just like in the show Game of Thrones, where it is said, winter is coming. But remember, when the snow falls and the winds blow, the lone wolf perishes, but the pack survives. We are your pack, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
