I have some exciting news to share with you. The Phoenix Suns and FirstBank joined forces to create an amazing opportunity for minority-owned small businesses during the NBA season. It’s called the FirstBank Empowerment Awards, and let me tell you, it’s super special. They started this incredible initiative in 2018 with the Los Suns Small Business MVP Award, and this year they took it even further.

Guess what? They gave away not one, not two, but six grants to deserving businesses this year! Each grant was worth a whopping $5,000, and on top of that, they provided marketing support to help these businesses grow and succeed. How awesome is that?

Now, I have to be honest with you. The application period for this year’s awards has already closed. But don’t you worry, my friend. The good news is that they have big plans for the next NBA season. That means more opportunities for you to get in on this fantastic program!

Ready for More?

Oh, but wait, there’s more! Let me tell you about another amazing program called the Geneva Community Development Block Microenterprise Assistance Program. This one is all about supporting small businesses in the Geneva community. It’s fantastic!

Downtown Ithaca Alliance Grants

I’ve got some exciting news for you from Ithaca, New York. They’re stepping up to support their downtown businesses that are still feeling the effects of the pandemic. It’s called the Downtown Ithaca COVID Recovery Small Business Grant Program, and it’s here to lend a helping hand. They’re offering 10 grants of up to $8,000 each for eligible downtown businesses.

What can you do with these grants? Well, the possibilities are endless! You can use the funds for capital improvements to make your business shine brighter than ever. Or if you prefer, you can invest in marketing to spread the word about your wonderful products and services.

Now, there are a few things you need to know in order to qualify for this amazing opportunity. First of all, you must demonstrate how your business was impacted during the pandemic. It’s important to show how you’ve been affected and what your plans are for bouncing back. Additionally, the program is open to all businesses that meet the requirements for ARPA funds. However, they’re giving priority to women and minority-owned businesses, which is fantastic!

Make sure to mark your calendar because the application deadline is June 15. Don’t miss out on this chance to give your business the boost it deserves!

Reading ARPA Grants

Guess what? Reading, Pennsylvania has some exciting plans in the works to support their small businesses too! They’re planning to allocate $2 million of their American Rescue Plan Act funds to create a special grant program. The City Council and the Mayor are still working out all the details, but here’s what we know so far.

The latest proposal suggests that $1 million will be set aside specifically for businesses on Penn Street, while the other $1 million is reserved for businesses all throughout the city. This way, they can provide some extra support to the downtown area while ensuring that everyone has a chance to benefit.

If you have a business on Penn Street, you might be able to apply for up to $50,000, which could make a huge difference in moving your business forward. For other businesses in the city, you could be eligible for up to $25,000. That’s some serious support right there!

Of course, there are a few qualifications you need to meet in order to be considered for these grants. First, you must have been in business before March 3, 2020. It’s also important that you can prove a loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, your business should have no more than 25 employees, and it must be a licensed business in Reading.

I know you might have more questions, but don’t worry! The details are not final yet, but the local businesses will receive updates very soon. Stay tuned for more information because this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
