By Ronald Smith

We all want to make a big impact with our social media, but it’s not as simple as just putting stuff out there and hoping for the best. Like everything else in your business, you need a plan. But don’t worry, it’s easier than you think!

Creating a killer social media strategy that gets great results is actually pretty straightforward and won’t take up all your time. And let’s be real, time is precious!

In this article, I’m going to break down five key steps for a supercharged social media plan: Set Smart Goals, Put It in Writing, Track Your Success, and Keep Improving!

1. Set Achievable Goals

Social media marketing has many benefits, like increasing brand awareness, building customer relationships, and connecting with influencers and bloggers. However, it can be difficult to measure these results.

That’s why it’s important to set specific and attainable goals for yourself.

Instead of just saying, I want more social engagement! or I need more likes, try to put a number on it. How many likes would make a real difference? Should you focus more on shares and retweets instead?

For example, if social media plays a big role in your inbound marketing strategy, it might be beneficial to prioritize shares. Think about your business and what will truly bring value.

2. Make a Plan

  • Exciting Events Coming Up!: Join me in some live events that are perfect for connecting and sharing with others. Don’t forget to find the event hashtag to boost our social media presence!
  • Plan Your Social Media Content: Let’s create a content calendar to organize our social media posts. We’ll also add eye-catching calls to action at the end of each post to encourage retweets and shares.
  • Spread the News with Press Releases: If you have any exciting news to share, let’s write a professional press release. It’s easier than you think, and I can even ask ChatGPT for help! Press releases are great for getting the word out.
  • Monthly Themes to Spice Things Up: Each month, let’s focus on a specific theme to make our sharing plan more exciting. For example, in August, we could center our content around Social Productivity, adding a unique twist to everything we share.

3. Get the Job Done with the Right Tools

Listen up! I’ve got some hot tips for you on how to use the right online tools to make your social media game strong. But hold on a sec! You don’t want to overload yourself with too many tools, ’cause that’ll just get in the way. So, what you need to do is strike a balance – find the perfect amount of tools to keep you productive, without going overboard. And hey, don’t forget to stay up-to-date and add new tools that use fancy new technology!

  • First up, we’ve got Agorapulse! This awesome tool helps you schedule your social media posts and lets you keep an ear out for what people are saying about you. It’s like a personal assistant for your social media!
  • Next, we’ve got Tweetdeck. This little gem is perfect for joining in on Twitter chats and keeping up with all the latest trends. Plus, the best part? It’s free! That’s right, Twitter made their API paid-only, but Tweetdeck managed to stay on our side.

All of these tools have really great features that let everyone in your company work together on the social media plan. There are also many phone apps for businesses that let you bring your social media insights into your customer support plan.

4. See How You’re Doing

Did you want to get 60 followers in four weeks or a certain number of clicks on your posts? Check regularly to see if you’re getting closer to your goal so you can make changes if needed.

If you’re not getting more followers, maybe you should focus more on reaching out to others and sharing their content. Checking regularly helps you avoid making big changes to your plan and keeps you working on the right things to reach your goals.

One trick that really made a difference for me was when I started adding more pictures to my social media schedule. Whenever I posted something with a photo, it would get way more clicks and shares compared to my regular text-only posts. So, I decided to make a change and started prioritizing visual content in my posts.

5. Rinse and Repeat!

Now, here’s the key: Give it a try for a month, see how it goes, make any necessary adjustments, and then start the whole process all over again. By setting realistic goals, creating a solid plan, and staying focused on success, you won’t waste your time on social media without getting the results you want.
