It’s also a good idea to have a franchise attorney on standby to review the contract. In fact, they might even give you a copy of the actual franchise agreement to take home on franchise discovery day or a few days later.

That’s right – the actual contract. That’s why only serious franchise candidates should visit the headquarters… candidates who are just about ready to make the decision.

To give you a better understanding of how things work, you may also get to visit a nearby franchise location. This will give you a chance to see the business in action and get a sense of what your future might hold.

And of course, let’s not forget the social aspect! In the evening, there might be a reception or a dinner event where you can mingle with fellow franchise seekers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, make new connections, and have some fun!

It might feel a little more like they’re trying to sell you something compared to your previous interactions. Remember, your rep is part of the franchise sales process. They might be close to making a sale and earning a commission.

  1. The franchisor’s executive team needs to feel that you would make a good franchisee. If they agree, your franchise representative will call you one or two days after your visit. They’ll tell you that they would love to have you as a franchisee.
  2. The second decision is up to you — the decision to become a franchisee.

When you go on your discovery day, time will seem to pass quickly. Make sure to take in as much information as possible and try to understand the company culture.

But once you come back home, take a few days to think things over. Take the contract to your franchise attorney and let them review it. If they give it the green light, then it’s time to make a decision. You’ll know exactly what to do.
