I’m Rapacz, and I’m on a mission to make weddings more eco-friendly. People love our products because they’re not only beautiful, but also affordable. But what really sets us apart is our commitment to the environment.

How it all began

It all started when I realized that there was a demand for artificial wedding flowers. I had used them for my own wedding, and when I decided to sell them on Facebook marketplace, I was surprised by how many couples were interested. That’s when my sister, who happens to be a Chemical Engineer, saw an opportunity for us to make a positive impact on the environment by helping people reduce wedding waste.

Winning the $10,000 Amber Grant for my small business, which is owned by women like me, was a truly special moment.

It wasn’t just an honor but also a powerful boost towards achieving my business goals for 2021. This grant opened up exciting possibilities for me and my business.

Taking a Bold Step

One of the biggest risks I took was investing in high-quality flowers.

Let me tell you, these faux flowers are incredibly expensive because they require a lot of labor to create. Some of them cost a whopping $15 for just one stem! Since I always strive to offer the best to my customers, I usually buy them in bulk to keep costs down when I’m designing new collections.

Imagine this – at one point, I placed an order for over $5,000 worth of flowers without ever seeing them in person. There was a chance that the flowers wouldn’t meet my high standards, and I would have lost all that money since the manufacturer doesn’t accept returns. But luckily, only a small portion of the flowers didn’t live up to my expectations, and I was still able to use most of them.

It was a nerve-wracking experience, but my dedication to quality paid off in the end.

A Valuable Lesson

I’ve learned something valuable – a business cannot grow rapidly without investing in effective marketing.

Let me explain. I used to think that if I provided excellent products at affordable prices, word of mouth would naturally spread and build my brand. However, I quickly discovered that this alone was not enough. Customers needed to hear about my business and the unique service I offered – renting fake flowers for weddings!

If only I had invested in marketing sooner, I would have experienced much faster growth. It’s clear now that spending money on spreading the word is essential for success and expansion.

What I Would Do with an Extra $100,000

First and foremost, I would love to explore and create new things. Just like how a dash of spice makes a dish exciting, I believe that variety adds flavor to life.
