A Review of “Toilet Paper Entrepreneur”
When times get tough, tough people take action. And when they take action, it’s important to have a plan – even if that plan involves bringing toilet paper along!
Okay, I admit my attempt at potty talk is a bit silly. But if you’re easily offended, you might not give Toilet Paper Entrepreneur a chance. And that would be a big mistake.
First of all, it’s a really short book – only 175 pages. In fact, it’s so short that you could read it while using the bathroom. There I go again! The chapters have lots of potty references in their names, but don’t let that fool you. In between the laughs, you’ll find some honest advice and straightforward tips on how to grow your business and actually make it happen.
But first, let me introduce you to the author, Mike Michalowicz. You might have seen him on the show Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch – he was one of the experts on the panel.
Maybe you’ve heard of him before. He’s the guy who started and sold a bunch of successful companies, like Olmec Systems, a cool tech company, and PG Lewis Associates, a team of computer detectives.
I didn’t know him at first, but I’ve learned a lot about him. I read his book, watched his videos, and even talked to him on email and phone. Let me tell you, he’s really smart. Not only that, he’s also down-to-earth and funny.
- Believe it or not, you only need three things — Forget about making a big fancy business plan. All you need are these three things: a Prosperity Plan, a Quarterly Plan, and Daily Metrics.
- Discover Awesome Tools with TPE Tips — Just like when you accidentally step on toilet paper, I’ve got some amazing tips for getting things done without spending too much money (some are even free!). Here are a few examples: Use eBay for online shopping. Give Dimdim a try for web meetings. Make use of the library. And don’t forget to reach out to retired folks or students who can lend a hand.
- The Secret to Losing 90% of Your Customers and Gaining (aka KEEPING) Even MORE Money — One of the key lessons in the book is the power of focus. Instead of trying to please everyone a little bit, zero in on the loyal and profitable customers who are driving you towards success. Say YES to them!
What I REALLY Dig About the “Toilet Paper Entrepreneur”
When you’re feeling stuck or down in your entrepreneurial journey, Mike goes beyond giving advice – he actually shows you what to do and how to do it. If you’re feeling discouraged about your life, the economy, or your future, this book is for you. It’s not just informative, it’s also entertaining, and most importantly, it inspires action. You might just find yourself jumping online to explore the tips and tools he shares.
At the end of each chapter, you’ll find a bunch of practical things you can do right away. In certain chapters, Mike even walks you through actions like the Prosperity Plan. And if you want to see examples of Mike’s 3-Sheets, head over to The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur site. Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog too – it’s filled with fantastic articles that are both helpful and enjoyable.
Who Can Benefit Most from Toilet Paper?
When I first wrote this book, I thought it would appeal to young guys in their twenties who wanted to become entrepreneurs. But boy, was I wrong! It turns out that women entrepreneurs over the age of 35 are loving it! It seems we’re not scared off by crude references as long as they’re accompanied by practical and cost-effective ways to start and grow a business that we’re truly passionate about.
Here’s the deal with my book and my approach. This isn’t some fancy MBA program or a dry academic course on entrepreneurship. No, this book takes a human perspective on building a business. It assumes that you’re not some prodigy with access to loads of money. It assumes that you’re just an ordinary person with everyday resources. And it helps you combine your passions, resources, and actions to achieve results that will bring you joy.
