Less than 2 Weeks Until Small Business Saturday!

I’m excited to share that the 12th annual Small Business Saturday, organized by American Express, will be happening on November 27th. This year, it holds even more significance as small business owners work hard to overcome the difficulties they have faced during the past two years of the pandemic.

Save the Date: Small Business Saturday is on November 27th

The 2021 Small Business Saturday event aims to generate $100 billion in reported consumer spending at small businesses between 2021 and 2025. American Express has launched a campaign to achieve this goal, and they have come up with various initiatives to encourage people to shop at small businesses during the holiday season. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Supporting small businesses by uniting communities through a nationwide marketing campaign and providing new ways to shop small through downloadable resources that are available for free.

In collaboration with Google Shopping, we’ve created eye-catching digital murals in cities across the U.S. These murals feature locally sourced products that you can easily shop and support. It’s like having a virtual store right in your neighborhood!

We’re excited to introduce the Shop Small x ByBlack online marketplace, powered by Show fields. This online platform brings together a curated collection of products from mission-driven retailers. When you shop here, you’re not only supporting small businesses, but also making a positive impact on your community.

In our commitment to support underrepresented small businesses, we have partnered with Main Street America to launch a new grant program. This program aims to provide financial assistance to those who need it the most. We believe in the power of small businesses and want to ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.

Small Business Saturday has always been important, but this year it’s even more critical. According to a survey, 78% of small businesses rely on holiday sales to stay open in the coming year. The impact of your shopping choices cannot be understated. By choosing to shop small, you have the opportunity to contribute to the U.S. small business economy by an estimated $695 billion this holiday season.

So, let’s make a difference together. It’s time to show our support for small businesses and help them succeed. Shop small and make a big impact this Small Business Saturday!

I’m Elizabeth Rutledge, the Chief Marketing Officer at American Express, and I want to talk to you about why it’s crucial to support small businesses. You see, we’re encouraging people like you to help make this holiday season a success for small businesses in your community. It’s not just about shopping on Small Business Saturday; it’s about supporting your favorite small businesses all year round.

Helping Small Businesses: The Inclusive Grant Program

We understand that small businesses need financial support to thrive and grow. That’s why American Express is launching the Inclusive Backing grant program, in collaboration with nonprofit partner Main Street America, which will provide a total of $1.65 million in grants to help entrepreneurs with various aspects of their business operations.

I’m here to tell you about an amazing program that can help small businesses like yours. The company behind it wants to provide financial support and resources to underrepresented small businesses that face challenges. If you’re a small business owner, you can learn more about how to apply for this grant on Main Street America.

Let me tell you about the Small Business Saturday initiative. It all started in 2010 when American Express launched this brilliant idea. They wanted to help small business owners like you get more customers. So, they came up with the idea of having it right after Black Friday – a perfect time for a marketing campaign to support local small businesses.
